About GlobalCCU Chapters

What is it?

A GlobalCCU Chapter is a local or regional organisation bringing corporate university professionals together with the aim of guiding Members towards the success of their corporate university. GlobalCCU Chapters are subsidiaries of the Global Council of Corporate Universities, coordinated and synchronised by the GlobalCCU Head Office in Paris, France.

Why form or join a GlobalCCU chapter?

Members benefit from regular face-to-face meetings with peers to exchange ideas and innovations; share questions; discuss challenges and successes; discover innovative new practices; find the best partners and service providers; and to benchmark and build rewarding relationships - something that is without doubt, vital to all corporate university professionals.

Who are the Chapters for?

Membership is open to people in charge of a corporate university, corporate academy, institute or similar educational structure. Each company may assign two individual members as representatives of their GlobalCCU Chapter.
Only senior corporate university professionals are invited to join a GlobalCCU Chapter (we specifically exclude consultants and other learning providers). However, experts are invited to participate in meetings, to provide both knowledge and inspiration.
Note: Members may not be substituted or replaced by new or returning Members.

How does membership work?

Chapter Members receive:

  • The opportunity to participate in five meetings per year (including one annual seminar)
    • Four one day-long meeting with a lunch provided by the host Member’s company
    • One annual seminar (one and a half days)
    • Administrative tasks are managed by the host company (this includes the provision of badges, name places, availability of computers, reproduction and distribution of documents, refreshment breaks, etc.)

Note: a Task Force composed of several Members prepares the meeting with the Chapter Leader beforehand.

  • Members file
This is an approximately 50 page file specifically prepared for each meeting. It contains the following: the problematic of the meeting (and the angle of approach); a transcription of the presentation of the host corporate university; benchmark case studies; strategic and operational tools, including –self diagnosis tools, action plans, etc. This Member’s file is written in the language of the country or of the region. The Chapter is responsible for the translation of relevant documents provided by GlobalCCU’s head office into the required language.
  • Chapter Members Directory
The contact details of Chapter Members are only accessible to Members of the Chapter and the GlobalCCU head office. This data is not to be sold or used by a third party.
  • GlobalCCU Chapter email express service
Each Member is permitted to use the Chapter Member’s email addresses to request information, advice, and professional contacts from their peers. In order to avoid an overload of emails, the Chapter Leader monitors the frequency of questions to peers.
  • Membership card with a personalised login and password
Each Member has access to the GlobalCCU Chapter website containing information, the latest Chapter news and other relevant content. A personalised login and password is issued on a Membership card which is delivered after all membership fees and registration has been completed.

Members must respect a club mindset

  • Principle of a community of practice. This means that Members attend the GlobalCCU Chapter meetings both to provide and receive feedback, support, advice and to challenge one another.
  • Principle of rotating invitation to the various Members’ corporate facilities. Each host is responsible for logistics and amenities. This permits Members to discover first-hand the organisation and the culture of other corporate university structures.
  • A GlobalCCU Chapter is not an association: it is a club.

Members must respect the following guiding principles:

  • Co-researching, co-creating and sharing knowledge.
  • Commitment to contribute, to exchange experiences and actively help one another.
  • Respect cultural diversity, uniqueness, and differences.
  • Business ethics (mutual respect, confidentiality, loyalty and generosity).

How do GlobalCCU Chapters strengthen the GlobalCCU Community?

Creating GlobalCCU Chapters in different parts of the world will permit the GlobalCCU network to enrich its activities, enlarge and improve the scale of exchanges for its Members, and become an influential corporate university network. Its strengths come from:

  • The global dimension and the active contribution of its members
  • The ongoing innovation of its research and recommendations on future trends
  • The exchange between Chapters

What about the role of the GlobalCCU head office in the organisation of the local and regional chapters?

All Chapters are coordinated and synchronised by the GlobalCCU head office. Each Chapter is facilitated by a Head of a corporate university or a facilitator selected by GlobalCCU head office.
GlobalCCU identifies, trains and supports Chapter Leaders in launching and implementing regional Chapters by providing advice and tools, as well as the content of the Member’s File.
After launching local or regional Chapters, GlobalCCU follows-up the each Chapter and aids them with:

  • The content and presentation of different themes relating to corporate universities
  • Advice on facilitation, branding, development, press relations
  • Relationships with other local and regional Chapters
  • Lectures and the speakers bureau
  • One annual visit from Annick Renaud-Coulon

When to launch a GlobalCCU Chapter?

A new Chapter is always welcome.

Local Chapters are formed in a city or country, whilst Regional Chapters are formed regionally; for example a North-American Chapter, a South-East Asian Chapter, a Middle-Eastern Chapter, etc.
